We had our first annual golf tournament last Saturday at Pine Ridge Country Club and it was simply fantastic. We had 93 golfers and the owners and golf pro at Pine Ridge said they couldn't believe we were able to get such a turn-out; especially in hot August weather. I had so much fun driving around with Nancy in the golf cart and watching all the teams. From what I heard, the fellowship was as much a part as the actual playing of golf. We had a lot of people who were invited and they were very impressed with the organization and implementation of the tournament. Where else, for only $30, could you play 18 holes of golf; get a gift bag with all that we put in it; prizes; and a great meal? Pine Ridge really put on a "FEED" for us. I wasn't expecting all the food they provided. Thanks to all who worked so hard - especially Chris Hope.
Last Sunday night at "BANG", our student ministry, there were 103 teens in attendance. The attitude is awesome over there. It is natural, after an exciting camp experience like our youth had, to sort of drift back into "normalcy" and mediocrity. So far, our students have kept the "FIRE". We have a very balanced group now with almost as many from the Lecanto schools as the Crystal River schools and even a few from Inverness. Thanks Pastor Steve and all you adult workers, you are the best.
If you've been present the last few Sundays, you know that we need to move forward with plans for building. The second and third services, particularly the third, are way beyond the 80% rule of attendance. We will be adding some chairs as we can, but that is not a long term solution. We still have between 10 and 15 new families from the county every Sunday and if we are going to keep a good percentage of them we must provide room. PRAY!!! I love you and thank God for you and am proud to be the Pastor of this GREAT CHURCH.
