Trunk or Treat was amazing again. This year, all available parking was taken up and we had to park people at the ministry complex across Highway 44. Thank-you for helping and supporting this outreach. The best guestimate from the representative from the sheriff’s department was over 1500 in attendance. We thought we would have candy left over to give away during the year, but we just barely made it to the end. Pastor Keith sent out 170 postcards to “families” representing hundreds of kids who are not in our children’s ministry database. Giving 4 bicycles away didn’t hurt any.
We will be meeting this week to discuss the space needs for children. The nursery is totally overwhelmed and so is the pre-school. The influx of young families has been a tremendous blessing. Thanks again to all the “new” volunteers in our nursery and pre-school.
Yesterday we had 22 people come forward to receive Christ as their personal Savior. God’s Hand is not shortened that it cannot still save. We are living in exciting times. People are absolutely hungry for the truth of the Word of God.
So many people wanted me to give them the letter from the 3rd grade little girl about grandmothers that I decided to include it in this blog. I will close with it.
“A grandmother is a lady who has no children of her own so she likes other kids. A grandfather is a man grandmother. Grandmothers don’t have to do anything except just be there. They’re so old they shouldn’t play or run. It’s just enough to drive us to the store that has the pretend horses and have lots of money ready. When they walk they’re slow. But they notice things like pretty leaves and caterpillars. They never say, “hurry up!” Usually they are fat. But not too fat to tie their shoes. They wear glasses and funny underwear and they take their teeth out at night. They don’t have to be smart. Only answer questions like why dogs hate cats and how come God isn’t married. When they read to us they never skip or don’t mind if we want the same story again. Everybody should try to have a grandma, especially if you don’t have TV. Because grandmas, are the only ones who have a lot of time.
