Gulf To Lake Church Sports and Recreation Ministry is on a mission to build leaders for Christ that in return spread the gospel to lead others to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through a variety of sports.
We are reaching out to everyone to get involved. There is a need for ministry in sports. We at Gulf To Lake Church are here to fulfill that need. Like most of you, I enjoy playing in and watching sporting events. We have all seen the changes that have taken place over the years when it comes to sports. I would have to say from a personal point of view - not all of them are good changes. Remember what it was like when the integrity of the game meant something? We had a religious ceremony before a game. The player who made the winning touchdown or shot in the game - that player knew who to give thanks to. They thanked God first for his or her accomplishment. I am not saying that it doesn't still happen for some. However, we have all seen on TV what matters most to a lot of the players.
I remember being a kid and pretending I was a particular sport's star. I remember imitating the player and his actions on and off the field. Those are our children's role models today. As adults we have grown accustomed to seeing it in every sport. It almost seems like the players deserve to throw fits when something just doesn't go their way. I believe we have forgotten what matters most when it comes to sports and Christ. Whatever happened to good sportsmanship, character, respect for coaches, and integrity in the game? Gulf To Lake Church Sports and Recreation Ministry will continually work hard on creating a fun, competitive, Christian environment for all skill levels of players to enjoy. Have you heard the saying, "if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem"? I urge everyone to get involved today! Only you can make that difference for tomorrow. Thank you for being a part of the the solution and Jesus lives!!!
